Gansevoort SuiteIf you're a fan of the Kardashians who faithfully followed Kim and Kourtney's adventures in the Big Apple on Kourtney & Kim Take New York, then you already know just how super-swanky the Gansevoort Park hotel is. The suite that they lived in last season was nothing short of amazing, and it couldn't help but make us all a bit hungry for a taste of the celebrity lifestyle. And the great thing about a hotel is that you don't have to be a celebrity to check into one.
But even if you aren't famous, you'll feel like an A-lister after spending even one night at the Gansevoort. Because I totally did when I stayed there this past Tuesday night. There were even a bunch of paparazzi camped out in front of the building when I checked in -- although I'm guessing they were a bit more interested in Rihanna (who was also staying there) than me. One can dream, right?
One of the best parts of living the celebrity lifestyle at a fancy hotel is the level of unsurpassed service you receive. My stay at the Gansevoort Park this week wasn't my first, as I also chose the hotel as my home base to watch and live tweet the Oscars back in February. I figured that if I was going to be tweeting about celebs all night, I might as well feel like one. And while the room itself was beautiful, I didn't exactly get the same degree of service that I would normally expect from such a posh property. And to say I was disappointed would be a huge understatement.
I'm not the type of person who normally voices my concerns when I have problems while traveling, but this time I decided to put my frustrations out on Twitter to let the hotel management know how upset I was. And I was shocked and pleasantly surprised when they immediately got back to me with an apology, and agreed that I was not given the same level of service that has earned them so many loyal guests in the past. And to prove it -- they invited me back for a complimentary stay this week. To say the experience this time around was amazing just doesn't do it justice, because I truly felt like a Kardashian the other night.
They put me up in a room called the Gansevoort Suite -- and I literally got lost in there a few times. My jaw immediately dropped when I opened the door.

Monogrammed PillowcasesOMG. I seriously almost cried when I saw those pillowcases. Can you even believe they did that? I don't think I've ever felt more special or important in my entire life. (Way to make a girl blush!)
While staying in a suite this luxurious was kind of a once in a lifetime experience, I will absolutely be returning to any sized room at the Gansevoort Park again the next time I'm in the city for two reasons:
1. Because they proved that they truly value my business. I learned a huge lesson from this experience -- that it pays to speak up if you aren't happy about something. Hotels like the Gansevoort Park genuinely want you to be content with your stay, but they can't fix a problem if they don't know about it. I would have been satisfied with a simple acknowledgement and apology, but they went way above and beyond in addressing the situation.
2. Because the hotel offers the perfect NYC experience. Whether you are in town for business or pleasure, this place truly oozes luxury and comfort, plus it's in a nice, not-too-touristy location. I'm already excited about staying there more often for date nights with my husband, or even for fun weekends with the girls.
I can't thank the staff at the Gansevoort Park enough for making me feel like I was a celebrity -- even if only for an evening. I'll never forget that stay.
What other swanky hotels have you always dreamed of staying at?
