6 Sun-Drenched Nooks Made for Curling Up With a Good Book

by Gabrielle Blair on March 1, 2012 at 5:46 PM

It seems like every kid (and adult too!) craves a cozy little space to hide away. So why not create one that's especially designed to encourage curling up with a good book?

Creating a comfy reading nook for your bookworm doesn't necessarily have to involve a ton of extra work (or cash). Here are some fun and relatively easy ideas on how to pull together the perfect space for some good old-fashioned literary exploration!

The maker of this cozy spot managed to pull it all together using items found around her house like an old tablecloth and an unused bathroom cabinet. So creative, and I love the shade of pink on those walls!

This bright and dreamy canopy was fashioned with a few yards of silk and a circular quilting hoop. Seems simple enough, and how great is that handmade rainbow rug?

If you love to swing a hammer and get your hands dirty, this nook created from repurposed wooden pallets is right up your alley. Tool belt? Check!

Loving this vintage inspired space with its bold patterns and retro feel. Nothing here is more complicated than some bright pillows and floor mattresses covered in soft quilts.

I've seen several versions of this adorable DIY tent floating around, and all of them make me want to crawl right in and settle down with a good book. Perfect for a quiet afternoon.

How about you? Do you have a reading space at your house? Have you spotted any other fun reading nook ideas I should know about? Please share!

My son had a little nook until recently but he rarely say there. He prefers to sprawl while reading so he flaps on the bed on the sofa in his room. If he wants a nook he prefers the closet to the nook he had set up.

I love them all! The first two are my faves, though. What a great idea. My 7-year-old loves to read. I think I'll have to make a nook for her!
