J.Crew Home Line Would Be a Dream Come True

Every time the J.Crew catalog shows up in the mail, I get a little bit giddy. And it's not because I totally love all the styles and clothes and wish I had a big enough bank account to raid the store anytime I wanted to. It's because life inside the J.Crew catalog just looks so picture perfect and happy. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that?

They do such an amazing job at clothing and accessories -- can you even imagine how incredible a J.Crew home line would be? OMG. As of now, there aren't any plans in the works to start a line of furniture and other home decor products, but their creative director, Jenna Lyons, did recently say that she would love to do one. And I know I'm not the only person who wants to go ahead and beg her to put a home line plan into action. C'mon -- who's with me?

Can't you just picture how cozy, clean, and perfect a home decorated in the J.Crew style would be? I'm ready to pack up everything I own and move in right now.

When I think of what a J.Crew house might look like, I picture a quaint little cream-colored cottage with peach colored shutters (J.Crew would offer their own line of paint), sitting on a nice piece of oceanfront property, complete with a private dock and Adirondack chairs on the sprawling green lawn. The chairs would, of course, be painted to match the shutters, and sitting in them would offer the perfect view of the massive sailboat that would be moored at the pier.

Inside, the home would feature neutral colors on the walls to go perfectly with the open floor plan. The living room would be the focal point of the house, with brightly hued couches in shades like periwinkle and coral. All the accent pieces would have clean lines, and would bring an added element of class and style into the home. Ceiling fans and lightweight, flowing drapes would also be a necessity in every room.

Each bedroom in the house would be a sanctuary in its own right, complete with super-high thread count sheets, plush duvets, and pillows and coverings reminiscent of those at a five-star resort. Black and white photos depicting yachts would adorn the walls, along with a couple of framed antique nautical charts. Sounds pretty blissful, doesn't it?

Ok -- so maybe the dream home I'm describing seems a bit unrealistic and unattainable to those of us who live in a cookie-cutter house in suburbia or a cramped apartment in the city. But if nothing else, a J.Crew home line would at least bring some of the feel of a seaside paradise into our own spaces, which would offer us a little bit of much needed extra comfort after a hard day's work. And that's something we could all benefit from.

Would you buy items from a J.Crew home line?
