This serene nursery created by Christine proves two things: First, just because your decorating for a girl doesn't mean you have to douse everything in pink, and, second, a DIY project doesn't have to be difficult to be effective. Take a closer look at the details to see what I mean.

When I first saw this room, the art above the crib is what stood out most. I thought for sure it was created by an artist, but it's actually just fabric from IKEA wrapped tightly around canvases. An inexpensive way to add interest to your walls.

Another way Christine added interest to the room is by replacing the boring knobs on the dresser with ones that are more visually interesting. Quick but effective.

The mustard yellow accents are a perfect complement to the gray. This cute pillow is from Etsy shop Honey Pie Design.
The child-size reading nook is probably my favorite element of the room. The book shelves were made from spice racks found at IKEA. Clever!
What do you think? Have you ever considered this color scheme for your girls?

This is a lovely calm nursery. Those who think it's not stimulating enough probably can't get their kids to sleep in their overly decorated rooms. And this is a small baby's room. When my son got old enough to stand and reach the pictures hanging above his bumper pad-lined crib, I took them down. No big deal. Other than sleeping and bedtime stories he spends no time in his room and plays downstairs. I think my older son would have loved the canvases as he would stare entranced at the place where my chocolate brown bedroom wall met the white ceiling.
I'd love to know where the curtains or curtain fabric is from. Thanks for the lively pics!
I don't like it. It's too plain and not warm and comforting at all.
It's still a fugly concept, and if it wasn't in a magazine or on a website, and I saw that in someone's home, I'd think they just used crap they found on the side of the road.
I agree, it looks like an insane asylum.
I was thinking VERY plain. I like the idea of gray and yellow with patterns because it's baby friendly...HOWEVER when your child hits one, add MORE color!!!
Bland, unwarmn and anything but homey. I suppose it COULD good if you don't like color or have no idea which gender you're having (we didn't though and had no trouble using color for our nursery). I don't personally like it at all.
The room does not have too look like the inside of genie's bottle to be for a girl but this is pretty bland I think. My daughters room had cream walls and furniture but she had girly patterns in the fabrics we chose for her bedding, chair, pillow etc and mirrored the colours in some sketches I put on her walls. There was no pink to be found in her room but you could walk in and still know if was for a girl.
I think this is a room designed to fit in mom and dad's house more then to work for a baby. I thinkg there are good things to take away from it and honestly, once you put a baby in the room it will be way more homey.
