What Your Favorite Christmas Songs Say About You

xmas treeSo I spent about $25 on iTunes this weekend downloading some Christmas jams and I was feeling all satisfied with my selection until I played it for a friend who told me that it was the saddest mix of music she'd ever had the displeasure of listening to. Whoops! I thought it was a great combo of classic, mellow Christmas songs and she thought it was some sort of digital suicide note. To each their own, I guess, but it got me thinking about what our favorite Christmas songs say about us. Here's what I came up with.

If you like Ray Charles' "That Spirit of Christmas" (like me!!) you're the coolest. And maybe a little romantic, nostalgic, and in touch with your softer side. Let's be friends and hug.

If you like Otis Reading's "Merry Christmas, Baby" you're an old soul who likes to move and groove. Yep! I said move and groove. You're happy go-lucky with great taste in music.

If Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" is your fave, then you were most certainly born in the 80s and grew up making up dances to this song with your friends in the basement. Did you wear red and green tights under cutoff jean shorts? Of course you did.

If Marian Carey and Justin Bieber's version of "All I Want for Christmas Is You" then you're the worst. The end.

If "Little Drummer Boy" is your jam, I think you're a bit traditional, but in a good way. You like the tried and true rituals around the holidays and you're the one who keeps the family together and running on time.

If "Baby It's Cold Outside" lights you up, I bet you're looking to get some. You're a flirt who likes to tease the boys, and you may or may not be unreasonably afraid of cold weather.

If "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" rings your bells, I bet you like to slow dance and get a little weepy after a glass of wine or three. You like the line: Through the years, we all will be together because you think it means you and your chardonnay.

And if "Jingle Bells" is your favorite Christmas song, then you're around four or five years old and shouldn't be reading the Internet. Now go brush your teeth and go to bed.

What do you think your favorite Christmas song says about you?
