Most years, we like to put our Christmas tree up during Thanksgiving weekend. We ignore Black Friday and instead, we embrace our inner homebodies and use the time to prep and dream for the holiday excitement to come.
I'm not sure when Christmas trees arrive in France -- this year will definitely be an adventure -- but I love the idea of purchasing a series of small live trees and potting them in various containters to dot around the house. I imagine it would make every room feel festive, and smell fresh. Take a look at these images and tell me what you think.
Tiny plantings in mugs and ceramic jars would look festive on the kitchen counter.
This one makes a big impact in the house and would have big impact in the garden come spring time.
This is a smallish tree, but raising it up ensures it's still the focal point of the room.
These dwarf varieties make adorable gifts!

I love love love your posts. These trees are gorgeous. That said..... They're just too spartan for me. I am not into "designer" trees - I much prefer trees that are all family - old ornaments from years ago, tree branches sagging under the weight of too many ornaments, uneven decoration (little people don't get tree symmetry yet). Oh and the candles scare me senseless. So although lovely to look at, my Christmas home decoration and tree will be a bit different. (PS check out your local IKEA for trees depending on where you are in France of course)
I like the idea, but it seems like so much of a hassle! What do you do with the trees afterwards? Plant them somewhere? Donate?
I like the idea. I would have a hard time with the bigger trees, because if they were situated on the floor, my cats would want to eat them. We always put up a big fake tree to hang ornaments on. I could get away with some smaller ones if I put them in places they can't reach. . . . .
We use an artificial tree, and I really miss the fragrance of the real ones, but we just can't manage them at our age. It never occurred to me that I could get some smaller trees and put them in different areas. Great idea!
We'll be purchasing a live potted tree this year. We have 10 acres and will be planting outdoors as soon as the holidays are over! I'm mostly excited for the smell invading our home!
What a great idea, I love real trees, and I can keep these after christmas. I like that. Maybe I will try one this year.
I wish it was easy to do. Ive worked in a greenhouse for years and wintering over an evergreen in the house is hard. There isn't enough moisture and usually dry out and die. Unless you live in a climate you can plant right after christmas. Tto get a 6' live evergreen in your house you will need a forklift LOL. I like the rosemary tree, that i could handle.
