Harry Potter Tour: The Newest Honeymoon Destination?

Heather Chaet

harry potter tourMy 10-year anniversary is coming up this year, and we are trying to figure out where we should go for a second honeymoon. Puerto Rico is nice, the Bahamas are always a good choice, maybe Bermuda with its pink sand? Those all sound fabu, but I've got another idea ... we put it off a year and head to London in 2012. No, not to see the Summer Olympics, not to celebrate William and Kate's first anniversary, but to be one of the first to go on the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London -- The Making of Harry Potter!

On this three-hour tour, you get to visit Hogwarts and all of the sets that were used in the making of the films. You get to walk through the Great Hall where Harry ate, where students were sorted and got Howlers in the mail! You get to go to Dumbledore's office! And you get to see a bunch of other things they haven't even announced yet!

C'mon, wouldn't Hogwarts be a great honeymoon destination?

Now, it's not an amusement park, no no no. There are no rides or anything like that. This is a behind-the-scenes tour, where you see the props, costumes, sets, how everything worked. They are even building a special hotel right by the studios, so we could stay there the whole time!

I obviously still have Harry Potter on the brain after the weekend marathon on ABC Family and we saw new clips from the last and final movie (hand me the tissues!). Sure we could go there on a family vacation, but Kiddo is not even 4, so we are still quite a few years away from tackling the books ... and I really want to see it. Like really.

So when I threw out this idea to my husband, needless to say, he wasn't too keen on it. Yeah, not as romantic as walking along a beach at sunset like we did in Hawaii on our first honeymoon. When I said we could re-create Ron and Hermione's first kiss, that didn't really convince him either. I guess I'll be waiting 'til Kiddo reads to head across the pond and see Hogwarts up close and personal. I'm buying Hooked on Phonics this weekend.

Are you excited about the new Harry Potter London studio tour?
