Pete Campbell is eco, who knew?Watching the magic of a pitch meeting at Mad Men's Sterling, Cooper, Draper & Pryce, it's hard to remember these are people trying to separate you from your money with so much eye candy in the room. Amiright, ladies?
So it only makes sense for the advocacy group PIRG to hire two Mad Men stars, Vincent Kartheiser and Rich Sommer, to sell us all on high-speed trains around the USA. As someone who would much rather ride than drive, I'm already on board with this idea from the past becoming an environmentally smart move of the future. Reducing our dependence on foreign oil is a no-brainer, and I'd rather not have to spend a day's wage on filling my gas tank up again.
Let's see if Pete and Harry can convince you too.
It is hard to separate independent Americans from their vehicles. And admittedly, there are times -- even in Los Angeles -- when I could take a bus instead of driving in my car. However, I can guarantee you if that high-speed train that's been in the works to connect LA to San Francisco was up and running, that's how we would be travelling when we take the trip this spring, instead of the grueling seven-hour drive.
I'm all for it Pete and Harry, but you might just have to send over Don to "inspire" me to write my congresspeople.
What do you think about a high-speed rail system instead of traveling by car?
