Rachel Bilson, yes The O.C.'s "Summer," just launched her home line, Edie Rose by Rachel Bilson, at Macy's. Very feminine, very springy, very ... peacock-y.
I dig her choice of inspiration. I like peacocks. I admire peacocks. I tip my hat to anything that has to go through life with six feet of feathers hanging off of its bum.
I've been excited to see other designers using the image of this beautiful male bird (Summer's boyfriend Seth, played by actor Adam Brody, would point out that peacock is the term for a male peafowl, while a female is called a peahen.) I've spotted peacock pillows. I've spied peacock plates. You can even find just a porcelain peacock to sit on your bookshelf.
This bird is popping up all over the place. Is the zebra-print craze done? Are leopard spots passé? I've shopped around, and here are some great ideas on how to invite the peacock into your nest.
Serious cheer. Serious chic. I can't help but smile when I look at this set of cheery peacock pillows from Jonathan Adler ($99.95 on HSN).
From the Edie Rose by Rachel Bilson line, this four-piece place setting is inspired by the peacock, with intricate feather details. Sold exclusively at Macy's, it is a gorgeous shade of teal and goes for $67.
I found this plum peacock rug for your tootsies at Neiman Marcus ($329-$1,699). Not so overt with the peacock theme, the rich color make the plume outline pop.
My favorite? This peacock pillow from CB2 (on sale for $19.95) is almost like artwork for your couch. Created by artist Valerie Long, some of the proceeds goes to help of each sale goes to support Creativity Explored, a nonprofit organization that developmentally disabled artists.
Will you flock to the stores for a peacock purchase?
