Mega Millions Dreams: What Would You Do If You Hit the Jackpot?

The Mega Millions jackpot is huge. Friday's multi-state lottery will be $237 million, the largest since May. During last night's drawing, 17 tickets throughout the U.S. had five of the winning numbers, but none had the Mega number. So close, but so far. And considering that the odds of matching all five numbers and the Mega number is 1 in 175,711,536, according to the Mega Millions website, winning requires a little bit more than just luck.

I'll admit it: I'm lucky. I've won four radio contests before, and just this year, I won $500 off a scratch ticket at Sports Authority during the Black Friday madness. The only rule for my sporty winnings: I had to spend it all at the same time, in the store, that day. I wasn't prepared. I didn't know HOW to spend $500 at once, and had to go back three times from the register to find more items to meet my spending quota.

But this time? I'm prepared. If I win the Mega Millions, here's what I'd do:

Go on a cruise (or five): There's just something about cruising that I absolutely adore. Having no connection to technology (unless you want to pay the $2 per minute Internet fee), the taste of pina coladas on the hot ship deck. If I won Mega Millions, I'd go on my dream cruise to Europe. But, I'd have to put off until the weather gets a bit nicer.

Buy an all-wheel drive car: Many years ago, my parents broke me a "go to an in-state college" deal and suckered me into staying closer for home in exchange for a 2005 navy blue Jetta (Go Huskies!). The problem: I'm absolutely terrified of driving in the snow. Sorry Volkswagen, it's no secret that the Jetta isn't exactly a snow beast. If I got a car with all-wheel drive, maybe I'd be able to get from my house to the grocery store in two inches of snow -- without crying.

Never worry about paying for my commute: I love my job. I just wish the commute was free. In my dream lotto-winning world -- this commute would cost $10 round-trip instead of $33. In my dream world, I'd be saving more than $345/month. Or ... I could just pay it and not care because there's a few million (or hundred) where that came from!

Buy expensive clothes: This one's a given. I'm a bargainista. I don't think that I'll have a $20,000 Christmas list anytime soon -- I find a good deal thrilling. But maybe I'd feel okay splurging for a to-die-for pair of Steve Madden heeled booties or a new Louis Vuitton speedy bag.

Donate: A good friend of mine passed away a few years ago unexpectedly, and since then -- I've raised money for his scholarship fund and run a half marathon in his honor every October.  To send someone to college, full-ride ... would be the greatest gift and reward.

What would you do if you won the Mega Millions jackpot?

OFirst I would pay off our house. then I would buy a ranch in Montana or Texas just so I could have horses again. I would also do college funds for the kids and probably do smaller ones for my 4 nieces and 1 nephew. I would donate some and  I would also help my sister and BIL out since they are having financial issues. Anything left would go in a trust and we would get  monthly payments from it to live on. :) Oh and I would definatey buy a new car or 2....1 an SUV and  a mustang or a jeep.

I would pay off all my debt's. Then I would pay off all the debt's of my family and a few close friends and special people in my life, she knows who she is. I would send all my Ex's sons to college. And I would take my ex on a cruise. Then I would wisely invest the rest to benifit my family for generations to come. And a new F150 4x4 supercab for me.

I would get me and my family off government assistance, then I would buy us a nice car, find us a huge lot to build a house on, after that I would help the less fortunate and help friends and family. We would take family trips and entertain at our home.

Pay off debt, buy a house, buy a car, donate to several charities that have helped us in our dark hour, fix my dads house, give a little to my mom to get her to shut up, buy inlaws a house and car, vacation, open my own daycare.

First thing I would buy is a brand new car. We buy used, but with that much money, I could be frivolous. LOL Then I would search for my dream house, and then find an investment advisor that didn't work on commission.

i would pay off our mobil home and give it away to someone in the area. Leaving them free to what they want to with it. I would then buy a house and a big one i like to entertain and have lots of people over. i would put money away for my kids to go to collage and then go back to school myself. I would open a free preschool so parents there would not have to worry about what ther kid are being taught as well as a before school and after school program. Maybe even throw in a free tutoring center. I would also want to build a low cost aparment bulding for pregent teens with babysitters so they could cont to go to school. I would donate a million to the preschool i work in now so they can not worry about being closed down because of the recssion. I would buy everything new when we moved to our house all we would need form the mobil home would be our kids our pictures and our animals. Both cars would be given away and we would buy new ones proably two econmy vechiles and 1 big family van proably would have to have a truck also. If we got a house with lots of land we would proably build a no kill animal shelter.

One of the things I would do is a spa party for all my best girl friends. I would fly them all in from around the country and we'd have an awesome time. I'd pay off debts, take a cruise, buy/build a new house, donate.

I would build my mother in law a brand new house and hire people to clean and cook for her so she will never have to again.

Then I would put money away for college for my daughters, buy my husband a new truck and invest some.

I would stay home with my baby girl so I could take care of her instead of paying a sitter to take care of her while I work!  Of course, I'd also donate a big chunk to a bunch of charities near & dear to my heart (St. Jude, Alzheimer's Association, All Paws Animal Rescue, etc.).  Then, I'd pay off my house & a new car, put some away for college funds, remodel my husband's grandparents' house (as it's falling apart big time and Grandma has MD), and I'm sure I'd come up with some more cool stuff...OOOH, big vacation with the extended family pay off bills...There's SO much one could do with that much money!
