I am so loving the recent explosion of new interior decorating and home inspiration magazines -- which include but are not limited to Lonny (which recently added print), Veranda, 3191 Quarterly, Rue, and Anthology. This new burst of home-lovin' creativity *almost* makes up for all the shelter mags we lost to this hideous economy.

The latest newbie magazine Covet Garden launched last month with a mission to deliver "real spaces" not styled by interior decorators. This mission is very in line with the home tours we try to feature here on The Stir, so we're excited! Long live the perfectly imperfect home!

Let's check out a few home decorating inspirations from the first two issues of Covet Garden.

Creators Lynda Felton, Jessica Reid, and Rhonda Riche of the Canadian-born Covet Garden call their new magazine "inspirational, not aspirational." That means we can expect to find a home we might very well live in and decorating ideas we might actually be able to afford and take on. That's a breath of fresh air, huh?

Each issue features a single home and then includes other fun bits of inspiration from the homeowners, including favorite recipes, favorite things, or buying guides inspired by their homes. It's lots of fun.

Here are few bits we loved from Issues 1 and 2:

living room gray couches

Inside the home of Ryan and Julia, we take a peek at their pretty art-inspired living room in Issue #1.

dining room

This dining area is lovely with the wood table, unique sideboards, and old windows turned art; however, I can't take my eyes off that beautiful clear vase in the center.

books stacked

Love the look of this shelf-less book storage. Creative stacking makes the books become a creative design element.

From Issue #2, the dining room in the home of Brendon, Shelley, and baby Clover (cutest name ever!). Love the mismatched chairs and the vintage pull-down map wall art.

bedroom bed

Gorgeous muted palette and that coverlet makes me drool.

baby room nursery pink

Doesn't Clover's nursery make you jealous? Pretty and pale with a bit of pink.

Where are you getting home inspiration these days?
