Before you go crazy pushing the thermostat up-up-up this autumn, think of ways to cozy up your home with your fall decorating choices.
Your choices in home accessories, as well as their colors and textures, absolutely affect the temperature of a room, even if it is just a mind trick. The so-called "warm" colors of autumn have a way of making a room feel cozier and more welcoming. When you surround a room with a little decorative fever, you create the appropriate emotional effect for full autumn enjoyment, too -- the one that says, cuddle up inside and stay warm.
We have some simple home decor ideas for creating warmth in every room in your house, from the dining and living room and kitchen to the bedroom and bathroom.
Dining Room
Candles bring warmth to any dining room table on their own. Add that pretty radiance to the gorgeous colors of these Recycled Spanish-Glass Vases (shown above; $12) from west elm, and intensify the splendor.

It's easy to pick table linens that reflect fall's brilliance. We love these Red Checkered Napkins ($24) from NapaStyle.
Living Room/Family Room
Especially if you have hardwood floors, a large wool rug like this Fieldcrest Luxury Jacobean Floral Wool Rug ($379.99) from Target can increase the warmth of a room immensely.

It's true that the hues of autumn can warm up any room. Look for small pieces in oranges, reds, yellows, and browns like this Storage Ottoman and Estelle Ottoman (both $39.99) from Urban Outfitters that can bring up the temperature of your living room a notch.

Cozy textiles like pillows and throws can make your couch cuddle-worthy -- and cuddling up means less need for high heater action. For couch accessories, think soft, squishy, plush, or fuzzy like these Hooked Wool Pillow Covers ($48) from Garnet Hill.
Kitchen

Hang a Chandelier Pendant Lamp ($99) like this one from Gallery above your kitchen island. It will bless your kitchen with that lovely golden glow of fall.
Bedroom

Soft equals warm in the bedroom. Down comforters, soft, quilted blankets, or a snugly throw like this GILDA Throw ($29.99) from IKEA can heat up the look and feel of your bedroom.
Bathroom
Add some super-soft new towels to your bathroom. Choose towels in rich fall colors like these Rayon Bamboo Yellow Bath Towels ($3.95-$24.95) from CB2 for added warmth.

yellow...is a summer color, especially in that bright shade pictured for the bathroom towels. The only yellow that could possibly pass for fall and still be a pretty color is that vintage-y shade on the throw pillows.
I agree with Lumby_h, unless you pair it with red brown and orange. That shade of yellow is better as an accent to something else.
