Between a smoking hot supermodel girlfriend or a gigantic Sulcata tortoise that lives 80 years, which do you think would be easier to commit to?
You'd think the 80-year responsibility would be a bit of a turn-off, but not for Leonardo DiCaprio, who recently shelled out $400 for one of his very own. Five years with girlfriend Bar Refaeli, and he has yet to propose, but it must've been love and first sight with the 38-pounder (that being the turtle, not the model).
Sure a pet, especially a tortoise, probably doesn't have the attention demands that come with a relationship, but my god -- 80 years! The thought of being with something (or someone) for that long makes my little commitment-phobic heart jump. I don't even have the capabilities to commit to getting a dog, and they sure as heck don't last that long.
If he wasn't so environmentally hardcore, I'd be guessing that he wasn't aware of the responsibilities that come with being a pet owner, especially for an exotic pet, but since he is, I trust that he knows what he's doing.
Which boggles my mind even more because he seems to have no qualms about that commitment. Too bad his new pet comes with a hard shell -- it's going to be awfully hard to hold it ever so closely when Leo's old and alone in 60 years.
What do you think of Leo's ability to commit his life to a tortoise, not to his girlfriend?
