Trompe l'oeil is a French phrase that means "trickery of the eye," and designers like to use this clever little device to create the illusion of something. It can be anything from texture to furniture, and if your home boasts one of these artistic designs, it may make your guests do a double-take. Here are five examples of some pretty darn realistic trompe l'oeil wallpapers that will have you touching the walls to make sure it's not real.
The wallpaper (left) from Couture Deco almost makes me believe that I can walk right into this Parisian scene and trudge up the steep stairs set in the colorful Montmartre neighborhood, making my way to the famous Sacre Coeur.

If you yearn for that industrial look but don't want to pay the cost for a high-end loft, just fake it. Concrete Walls create wallpapers that look exactly like the real thing.

Wall hangings without the holes -- how great is that? Deborah Bowness has several wallpaper designs that depict items that are normally found in a home -- floor lamps, Louis XIV chairs, filing cabinets, books -- but in a fun technicolor, girlish flair.

Put up this wallpaper from Koziel in your bathroom to really trip your friends out. Playfully hiding the matching real toilet dispensers, the patterned paper may make going to the bathroom a slight challenge.

Another one for you tricksters ... have guests try hanging their coats in this wallpapered closet from Couture Deco.

I think they are kind of cool but I don't think I would use them. I think it is too much for my little ranch home.
id use them in my kids rooms
I like the first one but the others would not fit into my home.
