Jason Lee may be doing just fine on the job market, but the real estate market is giving the Memphis Beat star a beating.
Realestalker says Lee's house in Los Feliz is on the market for a full $100,000 less than he paid Grammy winner Robert Cray for the place in 2007.
Hey, if even celebrities are taking a loss on their homes, is it any wonder two thirds of Americans are trying to figure out how to buy in this market?
Not that you'll be queuing up for Lee's house anytime soon. Even discounted, it's up for $3.25 million.
Richard Klug of Sotheby's International Realty calls it a "Wonderfully Unique, Gated & Private Celebrity Compound on Huge 1.5 acre Lot w/ almost One Acre Fat has City & Observatory Views, Peace & Quiet ... Perfect for those who want an Interesting Property with Privacy and Land!" on the MLS listing.
Built in 1948, the house is considered a landmark, and carries with it a price of about $1,400 per square foot.
Not exactly workable for the 60 percent of Americans who say it's harder for them to get a mortgage than it was for their parents.
But if the home of Pilot Inspektor's daddy says anything about the real estate market, it isn't exactly all bad. Just 13 years ago (1997), the house was worth $800,000. All it took was a few celebrities (and OK, probably a lot of work) to launch it to over $3 million.
Are you trying to sell your house now? Are you losing out?
