I was so inspired by the Summer Table Settings series and all our contributors' fresh and creative ideas. Now I can't stop looking for simple DIY ideas that can make big impact in your table settings.
Here's a collection of the DIY tabletop ideas I've fallen in love with lately.
1. Dress Up a Plain Tablecloth
The above table styling by Cheri Messerli is so amazing. I'm guessing she dribbled drops of watercolor paints all over the white tablecloth to create the soft and colorful effect. The dreamy tablecloth with the clusters of vintage bottles, mixed flowers, and swirls of ribbons makes for the prettiest and most summery table I think I've ever seen.
2. Add a Simple Floral Centerpiece
Most any mix of flowers can look great in an old mason or jelly jar. Can't go wrong there. Or, as shown above, choose three or four types of flowers and then cluster each type separately in coordinating vases to create a pretty, textured, and super-simple centerpiece.
3. Make Your Own Placemats:
Use this downloadable template to make your own placemats in this cute pattern or simply cut some printed scrapbook paper to the right size. Sure jazzes up a plain place setting, doesn't it?
4. Tie Up Your Silverware:
Use twine or a pretty ribbon to pretty up your silverware. A sweet touch for a simple place setting.
Are you doing any entertaining this summer?
