"Pam" played by Kristin BauerI love it when celebs give back. Especially when they do so for the sake of our furry friends. (I'm not talking about celebs who clean up after their pets, although they all should. I'm talking about those who go above and beyond.)
Recent animal-loving do-gooders include shock jock Howard Stern and his lovely wife, Beth Ostrosky, who adopted a pet (a special needs cat), and a vampire from HBO's True Blood, who, along with several other notable celebs, walked the runway with animals to raise funds for The Amanda Foundation.
Kudos to Howard Stern and Beth Ostrosky, who, according to People Pets, adopted a cat named Apple from the North Shore Animal League. Apple, who had a skin condition that made her bald (hence the special needs status) joined the Stern family, which already included Bianca, an 8-year-old bulldog.
Surprisingly, it's Mr. Stern who seems to have a soft spot for Apple, telling People that he loves the cat. (Personally, I'm not a big fan of Stern, but I give him props for taking in a kitty in need. I have my own special needs cats, and I know they can be a lot of work!)
While vampire Pam on HBO's True Blood may not have a soft side, Kristin Bauer, the actress who portrays her, showed her compassionate side when she helped raise funds for The Amanda Foundation, a 34-year-old animal rescue group in Beverly Hills, California.
The foundation has seen a steady decline in donations as of late, but unfortunately, the animals in need just keep coming. To raise funds, the foundation called on celebs, including Bauer, to strut their stuff with pets dressed up in Patterns for Paws designs. The pets, all up for adoption, stole the spotlight from celebs, including Bauer, Glee star Jenna Ushkowitz, NCIS star Pauley Perrette, and HBO comedian Bill Maher. According to The Associated Press, ticket sales for the event brought in $30,000, with an additional expected/hoped for $20,000 raised via a silent auction.
