My husband is always talking about going camping and not in the way I prefer to camp, which is at a place that offers room service.
Although I'm usually resistant to the idea of sharing my bed with insects, I do think our son will one day love the idea of camping, and what he loves, I love watching him do.
So, if you're planning a camping excursion for whatever reason, check out these current camping deals from great stores like Overstock.com, Academy Sports & Outdoors, Cabela's, Target, and Walmart.
A camping blanket seems like a silly purchase in summer, but the nights in the wilderness can certainly get cold even when the days are scorching. This camping blanket from Overstock.com is nearly 50 percent off right now at $14.99, and it's waterproof!

Unless you want to go to sleep as soon as the sun sets when you're camping, you'll need a lantern. Like this Timber Creek camping lantern from Academy Sports and Outdoors for $14.99.

You'll also need a tent unless you're just crazy and want to sleep directly on the ground open to who knows what wild beasts. Here's a dome tent for 50 percent off at Cabela's (only $39.99).

If you need a slightly bigger tent for family camping, here's a sundome tent that's 20 percent off for just $63.99 at Target.

I think s'mores were invented to make camping appealing, but you can also make burgers and hot dogs and grilled chicken and kebabs and all sorts of other campfire food. If you plan to do just that, check out this 16-piece set of sturdy camping enamel tableware from Walmart for $22.98 (about half off the cost of the same set at tons of other places).

Are you going camping soon? Where?

The only place we camp is indoors.
I love to camp. My husband has a bad back so we stay at hotels.
Hi honey! We have that exact Sundome tent! And I'm DYING to take the boys camping. I had so much fun camping in Wales, I didn't know how fun it could be! We should take our babies!
Nope...I think I'm too old and my son is actually too young to do that right now...however, I would camp out in the living room with him...LOL
nope, not this year
These are great, thanks! I WISH we were going camping soon.. but it's just not happening.
We just got back from camping at the lake a few weeks ago. We did cabin camping though. Tent camping in the summer in Texas is just lunacy.
I'd love to try camping with my family. We might start out in the back yard adn work our way to actual campgrounds and camping in the national forest.
great :)
