In the past, the sofa/chaise lounge combo has suffered from a rather cheesy lounge lizard reputation. But today’s L-shaped sofa offers good support for the back and legs, and looks great wrapped around a coffee table, a signature area rug, or in front of the television set. It’s also available at prices ranging from high-end chic to IKEA cheap.

Whether you’re looking for a sexy statement sofa or something ultra-comfy for the whole family to enjoy, here are some sofa + chaise lounges to consider.

High-End: From $3,000-$5,000

Mid-Range: Under $2,500

The ottoman at the end of this showpiece sectional sofa ($2,200) makes me crave a skinny dip in a kidney-shaped pool. Failing that, I could easily curl on it with a good book and glass of Chardonnay.

I am in love with this microfiber sectional ($1,794). It’s funky, stylish, and modern without looking off-limits.

Budget: Under $1,000
You’ve got to give IKEA props for bridging the gap between contemporary design and the modern consumer. The KARLSTAD ($828) and KIVIK ($908) are good loveseat and chaise lounge options, but the ultra-plush and affordable TYLÖSAND sofa ($799) steals the show.
