Turns out pet hair does more than pile up around the house -- it can also be collected and sent to Matter of Trust, where it will be used in the "Oil Spill Hair Mats Program" to help alleviate the recent BP oil spill. (You can also send your own hair.)

Do you have (pet) hair to send?

Between two adults, two cats, and a dog, we've got a lot of shedding goin' on at my house, and I know exactly where all that hair piles up (under the bed).

But now I know what to do with it all -- send it to Matter of Trust. Donors from every state in the US, as well as Canada and beyond, are sending in hair, fur, and wool clippings, as well as nylons and funding for outer mesh, all of which are used to make Booms that can protect beaches and white sands.

So grab a broom, gather up your pet hair, sign up at ExcessAccess, and help clean up the Gulf oil spill. What a great, green way to help!
