I love a fresh and airy white room as much as the next gal, but black done right can add as much of a clean, fresh feel to a room as white -- along with a little chic magic and classic sophistication. Remember this pretty black dining room?

Don't get me wrong. I'm fully aware how brave one must be to add black to her home decor. Are you brave enough? Check it out.

Black on the Walls:

Check out this fresh black wall, seen in the breakfast nook of Victoria's (sfgirlbybay) new apartment. She used two coats of black chalkboard paint. Oooooh.

Another black wall with white trim, as seen on Real Living. But mostly, I'm in love with that black and white butterfly bedspread. A great choice if want to ground the room with some black but can't commit to black paint.

Black Beneath the Chair Rail, Black Floors

This bathroom makeover by Kim of desire to inspire is gorgeous. She used leftover paint on the wall up to the added white chair rail molding. Plus, she bought black peel 'n' stick linoleum tiles to complete the look.

Can't commit to black walls or black floors? How about lovely high-gloss black painted doors, like these seen on Apartment Therapy? Pretty and sleek.
