Photo from Traditional HomeHow gorgeous is this living room -- and get this, it's the very first apartment for one lucky young college graduate.
(Dying over that wall etching with the mirror center!)
This is the first apartment for Lauren McGrath, who just finished college and moved into her first apartment in Brooklyn Heights, paid for by her salary from her entry-level fashion-writing job at Teen Vogue.
And here's where the lucky part comes in: Her mom, Suzanne Grua McGrath, is an interior designer who worked for 10 years with Martha Stewart in TV development.
(Trying, right now, not to think about my first apartment, in which I shared the living room as sleeping quarters with my best friend, so our guy roommate could have the bedroom, and used the dining room as our shared space. OMG, where did we find that couch?)
Photo from Traditional HomeLauren and her mom co-designed the apartment to be "recession-friendly" and decided everything in the apartment had to meet one of following three criteria:
- The piece must have family history.
- The piece must work with the space in either function or fashion.
- The piece must be versatile enough to use in other rooms and classic enough to last through the years.
What was your first apartment/home like?
