It's not just any mud room, though; it's a closet turned mud room. Maximizing closet space for better entryway organization refreshingly reminded me you don't have to live in a big house to feel like you do.
Wendy at The Shabby Nest converted this front closet to a mud room for her four kids. Four kids in the rainy springtime seem like a good reason for a mud room to me.
The family lined the closet with bead board and then used simple thumbtacks to hang the kids' pictures. Since the kids aren't quite old enough to read, the pictures help show where their jackets and hats go.
The cushion was made from an old, cut crib mattress (smart!) and covered with inexpensive fabric from Jo-Ann Fabrics.
The laundry basket is a great place to drop muddy clothes, and Wendy used a cute chalkboard from Michaels and wrote "Shoes" on it.
Check out Wendy's site for a few more details and pictures.
