In celebration of Earth Day today, let's talk about incorporating old bottles and glasses into your home decor. It's easy and eco-friendly.

Vintage decor is trendy these days, with the rise of Etsy and creative reuse in the midst of the recession. Thankfully, it can also be a great touch to the right house.

We live in an old farmhouse that has a contemporary vintage feel (that's our kitchen to the left), and I love the look of our old wine bottles on display atop the cabinets in our kitchen.

Recycle many types of old containers into vases or unique decor, such as: Mason jars, milk bottles (I love this centerpiece), nicely labeled bottles (such as Izze Sparkling Soda), or old wine bottles (I prefer dark glass bottles for displaying).

You can find great recycled bottles for sale in thrift stores, at garage sales, on Etsy, and even in specialty shops (I love Brookfarm General Store that sells recycled glass household items such as this recycled water carafe and water glass).

It's Earth Day today, and you don't have to change your life to change the world. You can easily incorporate small things that are good for the Earth and good for your family. Start small: Reuse a glass bottle here and there. Your life will be well-decorated and the planet will be better off.

How are you celebrating Earth Day?
