When you see a beauitfully-decorated room filled with unique pieces of furniture and creative details, do you immediately assume everything is out of your price range? Or ... is that just me?
Well, good news, great design doesn't have to be out of your reach when there's a whole world of DIY projects at your fingertips. Wait until you see how one woman took this boring hutch and turned into something fabulous...
When I stumbled upon this step-by-step guide to refurbishing an old, drab hutch, I was blown away. To have such outstanding creativity for a piece of furniture and to carry it out so impeccably, well, it gives new meaning to the words do-it-yourself.
Beckie at Infarrantly Creative found the not-so-inspiring hutch above in an old rental house, about to be trashed, with missing knobs and not suited for any pretty room. With a few layers of spray paint and some patterned fabric, she repurposed this (free!) piece of furniture into this:

VERY cute!!
I love the pop of fabric she used. I have a DIY project I need to get started on. My dad built a highboy chest for my sister years ago, and it was passed down to me and used in my son's room for a long while. He got tired of the style and wanted to use only the top as a chest of drawers, so that left the bottom half to find another purpose. I plan to put a stone (marble or granite) top on it and make it into a sofa table. I'll get on that some day.
