The first time I heard that women were turned on by the smell of cucumbers, I didn't believe it. I love to eat them, especially when pregnant, but I never thought much about their scent, amorous or otherwise.
It sounds weird, but it's totally true--and it's based on scientific research. Dr. Alan Hirsch, author of Scentsational Sex, measured women's arousal when they whiffed certain scents. Blood flow to the vaginal area was strongest after smelling cucumbers and Good & Plenty candy. As for men, blood flow to their penis increased after catching scents of lavendar and pumpkin pie.
Hmmm. Slicing up cucumbers and putting them under our noses isn't exactly convenient or sexy. So, like the anonymous poster in the questions section, I'm wondering how do you get in the mood...and would you try sniffing a cucumber before heading in for the night?
