Jennifer Hudson lost her mother and family members in a nightmarish spree of violence last month, as you well know. Unfortunately, Jennifer is not the only one suffering. As ny.chica pointed out, one in three U.S. women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends each day. Worldwide, one in three women will be beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused in their lifetime.
With one click, you can help convince the United Nations do something about it.
The United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) has teamed with Nicole Kidman to gather one million signatures by November 25 for the International Day to End Violence Against Women.
Nicole will present the signatures to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon herself at a dinner at the United Nations in New York City. (CafeMom might even get invited to attend this important event live and in person. Wow.) She is trying to convince him to make ending this issue a top priority.
So far, though, UNIFEM has only collected 500,000 signatures, and they need CafeMoms help.

I work in a domestic violence shelter. I see this everyday. I pray everyday that this will come to an end!

I WOULD USE THE REST OF MY LIFE TO WORK TOWARDS ENDING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN, I HAVE BEEN A VICTIM AND A SURVIVOR STILL LIVING IN THE HOUSE WITH THE ABUSER I KNOW ALL THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT DV.
IT IS RIDICOULOUS HOW THEY WILL NOT CHANGE THE LAWS AGAINST WOMEN, WE SHOULD HAVE A MARCH OR SOMETHING TO REALLY AWAKEN THIS NATION TO THIS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED NOW, WE HAVE WAITED LONG ENOUGH, NOW IS THE TIME.
