I got overly excited when I went into my neighborhood Starbucks the other day and saw that the holiday drinks have returned.
Yesss! Nothing says "Happy Holidays" like a grande peppermint white chocolate mocha...with whip.
Then I read these articles from That's Fit and Fit Sugar that told me how many calories were in these delicious drinks. I felt like I had just found out Santa wasn't real.
For example, a medium Dunkin' Donuts Pumpkin Latte has 330 calories and a venti size of my favorite peppermint white mocha from Starbucks has close to 700 calories!
If you can't go without, the articles say you can save 200 calories by switching to nonfat milk and going sans whip. Hmm...perhaps I'll have to go that route...I really don't think I can go an entire holiday season without my peppermint mocha and gingerbread latte.
What's your favorite seasonal coffee drink? How do you make up for the high calories?

Specialty coffee is a treat for me, calories be damned.
I LOVE the pumpkin spice and eggnog lattes.
I love the Gingerbread flavor. To save on calories I get a non-fat Cafe Misto (cafe au lait) with gingerbread syrup.
I've also limited myself to one "coffee" every two weeks LOL
i love the peppermint hot chocolate since i dont like coffee taste at all. although i did try a pumpkin spice latte and didnt think the coffee flavor was overwhelming. my best friend and i have a tradition [when we both lived in NJ] of getting the peppermint hot chocolates together. i remind him every yr to get one even though i live in TN now.
you could make your own...
