How Often Do You Floss -- C'mon, Fess Up

Cynthia Dermody

flossing teethYou're supposed to floss your teeth every day, of course, but I know a lot of people who don't.

I do -- and very carefully, so I thought -- though my dental hygienist doesn't believe me. I must not be doing a very good job or the plaque bugs must really like my mouth, because every time I go in for a cleaning she asks me the same question as if I'm a 4 year old:

"Are you flossing every day?"

"Are you sure?"

She's probably used to people lying to her. It's not the most enjoyable act of hygiene, like washing your hair or scrubbing your face. But I love the feeling and would do it more often if I had the chance (totally unecessary, by the way).

Do you lie to your dentist or hygienist when she asks you if you are flossing every day?
