But who wants to even start getting frisky when you head is pounding? Not me. So I found some other all-natural cures for a headache.
- Apply a cold compress to your head, where it hurts. Use that frozen bag of broccoli if you don't have a store-bought compress.
- Block out light with an eye pillow or use a hand towel folded, lay down, and place over your eyes. Relax for at least 10-15 minutes giving your eyes total rest.
- Turn down the lights. Do you work in an office or have a room in your home with bright fluorescent lighting? You may want to try to lessen the brightness and install softer bulbs. Be sure to have adequate light if reading, of course.
- Drink a glass of water. Staying hydrated helps keeps headaches away.
- Remove your earrings, headband, or ponytail. The pressure from these items can bring on head pain.
- Try acupressure. Make an "L" shape with your pointer finger and thumb. In the webbing between the two fingers, go about an inch and a half in, and press on each side with the pointer and thumb of your other hand -- with one finger at top of hand, other on palm. Apply pressure and massage for about 2 or 3 minutes. Note: Do not do this if you are pregnant, particularly in third trimester as it can stimulate contractions.
