A friend of mine is taking off this weekend, leaving hubby and the kids behind, and is treating herself to some well-deserved "me" time. She's not going anywhere extravagant, just simply driving a couple of hours upstate and spending the weekend in a cute town full of antique shops. She is taking a solocation.
And she's not the only one...more and more people are vacationing solo nowadays. A recent study shows that over 27% of travel is done stag. Some locales even have special solo travel packages!
Personally, I couldn't do a solo vacation, if I'm home alone for more than an hour I end up having conversations with my cat.
Have you ever or would you go on a solocation? If so, where would you go?

Not more than a day I don't think..it would be fun long enough to catch some sleep and relax and after that I would probably get really bored.
I think I could do it for a day only- visit a city and go shopping. Probably, I won't get any sleep at night coz I'd be thinking of my son.

I love love to visit my family and friends solo.. we moved 900 miles away a few years ago and its not only a stressful trip to take with toddlers, its a stressful trip to take with DH... he bitches the whole way how much he hates the drive.
So.. yes I would love to go by myself, and be able to have freedom when I got there to get a drink with my girlfriends who DONT have families yet.. or head out to all of my favorite shops without two screaming toddlers in tow.. yeah. That would be FANTASTIC.
The only problem? My parents would KILL me if I came there without my kids, lol.

Maybe when my kids are grown and out of the house. When you have a family you do things like vacations as a family.
