Most of us probably don't consume the recommended three to five vegetable servings a day even when we're dieting. But according to a new study (funded in part by the Campbell Soup Company), drinking at least one glass of low sodium vegetable juice every day may help overweight dieters lose more weight.
Reuters published the results of the study, which found that adults who drank at least eight ounces of vegetable juice as part of a calorie-controlled heart-healthy diet lost four pounds over 12 weeks, while those who followed the same diet but did not drink the veggie juice lost only one pound. Veggie-juice drinkers also increased their intake of vitamin C and potassium, while decreasing their overall carbohydrate intake. And they were more likely to get three to five veggies a day. All 81 participants (75 percent female) had metabolic syndrome -- a cluster of risk factors including excess body fat around the middle, high blood pressure, high blood sugar and high cholesterol. Dr. Carl L. Keen, who was quoted in the article, suggested that vegetable juice helps reduce a person's appetite. (I should've had a V8.)
Do you drink veggie juice? If so, what do you recommend?

I was just diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. I am totally willing to try this -- I love V-8 and if doing this even does SOME of the things it says, it will be worth it!
I love the V-8 Fusion juice line, which is different from the V-8 Splash. See the labels for the difference.
I dont think theres a need to spend money on buying V8 I usually just put carrots, orange juice and a little bit of spinach in the blender...it works miracles!!! It taste good too but this is what its good for weight, cold, constipation, fatigue, menopause, tension, and sinus problems. I read this in a book Natural Health Remedys by Janet Maccaro.
The carrot, orange juice, spinach thing sounds so gross! lol but I am sure it is good.. but i dont have the guts to try it. lol But yes i believe if you have the correct amount of fruits and veggies, then you will be healthier, in the end resulting in a more healthier weight. But i need someone to keep on me to make sure I do this. I know what is right to eat and drink, but I know what i like and cant stop eating... ugh... lol
I am trying to figure out how they are stating that losing 4 pounds over 3 months is a good thing???

I agreee with the above - MonaVie is the only wholefood fruit beverage offering completed balanced nutrition with no sugar added no water added, and has been on the market for a little over 4 years and is the market leader - but those that dont keep reading....
OK really - this is such a flawed study... First of all - unless you blend and juice yourself - every single juice you buy at stores that is NOT a whole food is clarified sugar water with the taste of the fruits or veggies - all anyone has to do is the research - its all there if you are willing to research it.
Especially if you have diabetes or other health conditions that requires a low sugar or no sugar diet.
I lost alot of weight on v8 juice! I was walking and exercising too!
hmmmm...maybe we can try to eat more fruits and veggies and exercise daily. i think changing our lifestyle to healthier habits if the best diet!
losing four months over 3 months is a great thing...especially beacause that means it wont come back!!!!! when think about it, if all you have to do is drink 8 oz's a day for a year then you will lose 12 pounds that STAYS off!!! and if you add a work out plan and watch your calories intake then we can only imagine what this could do for you! good luck! i love v8, i know it gives me a boost! my hubby drinks it too!
