According to a CNN report, the rate of men getting vasectomies since November is on the rise. Urologists interviewed for the story reported that men who've just lost their jobs or are afraid of losing their jobs in the near future are equally afraid of having more children.

The Department of Regional Urology of Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute at the Cleveland Clinic has seen a 50 percent increase in vasectomies and Dr. Marc Goldstein, surgeon-in-chief of male reproductive medicine and surgery at the Cornell Institute for Reproductive Medicine in New York, saw a 48 percent increase in vasectomy consultations compared with the same time last year. The article goes on to explain that vasectomies are the cheapest form of permanent birth control because they're less invasive and less money than tubal ligation, which is tying, cutting, or blocking a woman's fallopian tubes.
