Apparently, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims in Washington has been busy today:
Thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative used for decades in some vaccines given to children did not cause autism, a federal panel ruled.
Families whose children developed autism after taking a vaccine that contained thimerosal aren’t entitled to compensation from a $2.5 billion government trust fund.
This news definitely gets me fired up, but I'm going to calm down before I write what I think. How do you feel about this ruling?
The CafeMom message boards are blowing up about this topic, especially in the private group Autism, Mercury Poisoning and Everything In Between and public Choosing Not to Vaccinate.
What do you think? Are the courts right to say there is no link between these vaccines and autism?

jeez ive been saying this all along.
Could you imagine if they agreed with them ? The trust fund could not handle the amount of parents who would be entitled to the compensation. Especially with the statistics in some areas now even lower then 1 in 150 children.
Honestly I am not surprised the court would say that. Not to mention if they did agree it would cause mass vaccine hysteria which we know the Government does not want.
Frankly I could care less what they think. I go with what I know and have lived. For me personally I do think vaccines played a role in my children's neurological and immune system problems. I don't even think it has to do with Thimerosol. Just the vaccines themselves, something else going on with the immune system.
They are not going to change my mind by this ruling. Doesn't mean I am anti vaccine, but I do believe there was a link for my children.
I don't agree fully, but I also disagree with those who try to say that all autism is caused by vaccines. Sometimes it is genetic. My family is a perfect example. There are so many Aspies in my family (from my dad's side). And I think thimerosal was an absolutely stupid idea, as it is COMPLETELY unnecessary for making vaccines anyways. Just an example of using the cheapest ingredient, no matter how dangerous.
If the rate of cases of autism had dropped as more and more vaccines are produced without thimerosal than the arguement would be valid. The problem is the autism rate is rising while the thimerosal in vaccine rate is falling. Most vaccines produced since 2001 with the exeption of the flu shot do not contain thimerosal. Statistically speaking, the link just isn't there.
The importance of every child to be protected against vaccine-preventable diseases requires the collaborative effort of each individual. WHO Regional Office for Europe in 2005 began the European Immunization Week (EIW) initiative with aim of raising awareness on the importance of immunization and also to increase immunization coverage in the region. The initiative has been become an annual affair because of its impact on preventing diseases which might have resulted into disability or death. In order to be informed about vaccine safety and the activities of EIW, I will kindly request readers to visit this site http://www.euro.who.int/eiw
This is such a BULLS**T headline!!!! It was determined that in THREE cases that vaccines did not cause autism!!! It DOES NOT mean that vaccines as a whole don't cause autism!!!! Remember the Hannah Poling case anyone? It's THREE cases out of how many millions of cases of autism!!!! The headline should've been better worded!!! This headline that they chose to use for these three cases makes it sounds like vaccines never have and never will be linked to autism which is total BS. There are several cases where vaccines HAVE BEEN linked to autism and there will be many more!!!
This is a nother example of the government being bought out by the drug companys, and the sad part is we dont really have a choice schools wont even let your child attend without the vaccines, its B.S. They cant even keep are food safe let alone are kids.
Yep, it was determened in only 3 cases, so that headline is terrible. Vaccines may not cause Autism but they can not rule out that vaccines could be a trigger. Almost all the ingrediants are toxic. No thank you! I wont take my chances with my child, and autism is the LEAST of my worries when it comes to vaccines.
Thimerosol in our vaccines/flu shot is not the only way to get mercury into our bodies. Are you aware that mercury is in many of our foods/beverages that contain high fructose corn syrup? It's true! So, we may not completely be able to blame our government based on the vaccinations but the combination of our food and beverage industry who uses mercury based processes to create high fructose corn syrup. It's a multitude of enviornmental issues that are causing the rise of all these neurological disorders.
