When you're a new mom, you soon realize you have juggling skills you never knew existed. Between late-night feedings, diaper changes, and all the duties that come with being Mom, you just might have enough gas in your tank to think about squeezing in a workout.

Post-baby fitness might not be high on your list of to-dos, but for some moms, it's more than just a calorie burn. It's a chance to step away, enjoy much-needed "me time," and woosah as all those wonderful endorphins naturally relieve your stress. (No waiting to exhale here!)

Ah, doesn't that sound relaxing?

We caught up with mommies who spilled the beans on working out after baby, why it was important to them, and the things they did to #feeltheburn.

  1. "I used to roll my eyes at 'perfect mothers' who always had time for fitness. It wasn't until I became a mom myself that I realized its value. Weeks after I gave birth to my daughter Megan, I made it a mission to climb the steps of a nearby high school stadium and try a yoga class. I wasn't the most in-shape person there (duh, I just gave birth!), but it made me feel energized and ready to tackle the day." -- Ashley S., Washington, DC
  2. "I tried to do some cardio when my son napped. I have a stair step machine at home -- which helped -- but, once we were out and about, I found this great community called Fit4Mom. They have classes called Stroller Strides (think gym class and boot camp) and Stroller Barre! The moms who attend with their baby/toddler in tow are incredibly supportive; they understand where you are and help you become as healthy as possible. It's been amazing!" -- Samara T., Oklahoma City, OK
  3. "At first, all I could do was take a stroll around my neighborhood with my baby. Soon, that inspired me to try one of those couch-to-5K programs, and I've been running ever since!" -- Paige, Miami, FL
  4. "I don't have a gym membership, but I wanted to try something. Thankfully, there are fitness moms on YouTube and Instagram who have quick exercises you can do at home." -- Michelle D., Grand Rapids, MI

  5. "I squeezed a workout session in at home when my daughter would nap. I used TRX bands, therapy bands, kettle bells, and small dumbbells. I also biked with a kid trailer on the back and ran with a jogging stroller when she was older. I even did walking lunges while she was in a 'baby backpack' on my chest!" -- Shauna P. (personal trainer), Choctaw, OK
  6. "I was on modified bed rest and banned from working out during my second  pregnancy. I didn't realize how hard it would be with a newborn and a 22-month-old running around. I worked out at the playground while wearing my daughter in a carrier, and my son played. I also did a lot of at-home workout DVDs when both children were napping." -- Danielle Faust (creator of the lifestyle website Fit Noire), New York, NY

No matter what you do, just try your best!
