Curvy Model Barbie Ferreira Ups Aerie's Body-Positivity Game (VIDEO)

It's been almost two years since Aerie pledged to stop retouching their models, and we've loved every creased, blemished, and wrinkled body we've seen since then. Even so, Aerie has mostly stuck with traditionally slim models since the beginning, which is why Barbie Ferreira, the newest model to join the #AerieREAL campaign, is getting so much attention: She's 19, size 12, and a self-described "curvy model." And we love her.

Barbie's ads haven't been released yet, but Aerie posted a teaser video to their YouTube channel featuring Barbie lounging by the pool in a hot pink bikini and unapologetically loving herself:

Naturally, Barbie quickly became the target of hundreds of truly terrible comments from sleazy Internet trolls. But she handles it like a champ and fires back body-positive wisdom and self-love.

Any 19-year-old with that level of strength and confidence is truly astounding, but considering the amount of body-shaming garbage Barbie regularly deals with, we're all the more blown away by her.

And we're not the only ones. Aerie's global brand president, Jen Foyle, told Refinery29, "We cast Barbie because she's got nothing to hide, she's strong and beautiful -- she embraces her real self, which is the spirit of the Aerie Real message."

Basically, she's beyond inspiring -- there are enough comments thanking Barbie for the confidence to wear a bikini again to push all the nasty ones about her body out of the way. It's proof we need more ads like this to show even more women that no matter their size, they're hot as hell.

So give us more jiggle! Show us more creases and folds and shining smiles and girls who wear bikinis even though they've always been told they can't. Models like Barbie and brands like Aerie are the ones who are going to normalize curvy bodies to the point where they're not making headlines anymore, and we can't thank them enough.
