Gwyneth Paltrow Says Peeing in the Shower Gives You Powers You've Never Dreamed Of

gwyneth paltrow at bllogherOh, there she goes again! Gwyneth Paltrow has wacky new advice for us on Goop, her one-percenter-skewed lifestyle website. This time, Gwyneth is encouraging us to pee in the shower.

That's right. Go ahead and cop a squat next time you're at the gym or even in your own home. Gwynnie said it's okay.

Any article that begins, "If you've never had your pelvic floor released, consider hunting down an integrative structural specialist..." had me at hello. I guess if I'd had my pelvic floor released, I would probably know about it, so I read on.

Turns out, this web of muscle attached to your pelvis supports your innards (bladder, intestines, and the like) and also is the secret to better orgasms. (Now, I've got your attention!) Also, as per Goop, it is where many women hold all sorts of stress, making the area inflexible and saggy over time -- and leaving their sex lives in the weeds. It's also the cause of that "I laughed so hard I almost peed myself" feeling.

Having had this particular pee problem, a.k.a. stress incontinence (when you laugh, sneeze, pee, bear a child, or otherwise put pressure on your bladder), I pored over the story's recommended exercises and, Kegel-ing madly away, resolved to follow all of this seemingly great advice.

But check out the story's top tip:

Try peeing in the shower squatting down.

This apparently engages the pelvic floor and lines up your urethra, allowing you to empty your bladder naturally, without straining. In turn, Lauren Roxburgh, a fascia and structural integrative specialist who's quoted in the article, claims:

It's the key to great sex, a flat tummy, and the key to never laying in a supply of Depends.

Hmm. Yes, I will do the Goddess Roll and the Inverted Core Series. I will try rebounding (jumping on a mini-trampoline). I will have sex (promise!). But ...

I don't know if I'm ready to pee in the shower. Look what it did for George on Seinfeld:

I do, however, often hike in the woods. So, if nature happens to call when I'm out in nature, maybe I'll give Goop's tip a try.
