Plus-Size Model Denise Bidot Refuses to Be 'Sorry' for Her Beautiful Beach Body (VIDEO)

denise bidotIn her new ad for swimsuitforall’s new “Beach Body. Not Sorry” campaign, plus-size model Denise Bidot frolics on an idyllic beach and reveals she loves everything about her body, name-checking cellulite, stretch marks, and "everything that I thought at one point was an imperfection."

It's great. I mean, lately, even non-plus celebs are loving their stretch marks! But it’s a real victory for the curvy to stop always feeling inadequate for not being Baywatch-thin. There’s a whole culture of swimsuit-shaming out there (see pix of Jennifer Love Hewitt in a two-piece or Tyra Banks or Lady Gaga), and it’s not just related to weight. It’s like you can’t have a single imperfection, but that’s just not human! And Bidot is saying it’s time to stop hiding under the tent-y cover-up!

Check her out.

Having just been to the doctor yesterday, who said, "I don’t know if you know much about the BMI (Body Mass Index), but yours is ... high," this video especially hit home for me.

The most important thing is to be healthy and happy and enjoy our loved ones. Because of my lifelong issues with my weight, I know that self-acceptance is the best foundation for whatever comes next. Whether, for Bidot, that means shooting a gorgeous video in a made-for-her-figure bathing suit, or, for me this morning, putting some Taylor Swift on the iPod and starting the day with a sweaty 30-minute walk.

It would be nice to be at the beach and spend more time (comfortably) showing off a pretty suit. The reality for me is that I have some work to do before I’m comfortable, and I knew that. But it sure is nice to see such an inspiring role model putting it out there. As Bidot says, “Life is much better in a swimsuit” and “Be you and just rock this world, man.”

How does Denise Bidot’s swimsuitsforall video make you feel about hitting the beach this summer?
