Melissa McCarthy Reveals the Secret Behind Her Dramatic Weight Loss (PHOTO)

melissa mccarthy spy premiereIt is hard not to love Melissa McCarthy. From the quirky Sookie on Gilmore Girls to her hilarious hosting stints on Saturday Night Live and, of course, her major movie successes in Bridesmaids and now Spy, her career been on fire lately.

While Spy looks like it is going to be one of the biggest hits of the summer, it is Melissa's new People Magazine cover, released on Friday, that really has people talking.

I’ve always loved the McCarthy showed that you can be fierce and funny at any size, so I was a little concerned at first when I saw her looking noticeably skinnier here.

I don’t think weight loss, especially if it is to try to get healthier or to feel more comfortable in your own skin is a bad thing, but I confess I was afraid that she might be talking about some crazy new diet or her new killer exercise plan with her high priced personal trainer or her desire to be a more “typical” Hollywood size (read negative numbers in clothing sizes).

So, how refreshing is it to read that the truth is she's getting healthier by worrying less and relaxing more? As she notes:

I truly stopped worrying about it. I stopped over-analyzing, over-thinking, over-doing anything. I kinda went back to when I was pregnant and I just stopped constantly being worried about it and I think there’s something to kinda loosening up and not being so nervous and rigid about it that, bizarrely, has worked. I could’ve figured that out before 44, but whatever.

Letting go and losing some extra pounds? I can get behind that.
