Internet Gives Widow Amazing Financial Advice -- Way to Go!

woman on computerA mom of three who lost her husband in a motorcycle accident received a sweet surprise from a most unlikely place -- cyberspace. Using Reddit, the woman turned to the Internet for financial guidance after she found herself with $50,000 from life insurance, a charitable donation, and a GoFundMe page set up to help her family, and no idea what to do next.

In addition to advice such as "make a standard and a living will, consulting a professional financial planner, and take care of your basic necessities," users were quick to offer their condolences and encouraged this grieving mom, who identifies herself as a grad student/at home parent, to take the time she needs to heal.

How refreshing to read about the web being used as a helpful resource rather than a place where readers can make snarky comments from beyond the veil of anonymity!

Reddit users also offered this important caveat: Making decisions about money in a high stress or emotional time is not advised.

These are all really important points to consider as this single mom moves forward. We're sure she already has enough on her plate as she says she has a 4-year-old and 18-month-old twins. Though it's heartbreaking, it has to be somewhat of a comfort to her to know that people took the time to assist her.
