Girls creator and star Lena Dunham might seem pretty out there sometimes, but when it comes to treating anxiety, her advice actually appears to be spot-on. The Not That Kind of Girl author posted a workout selfie, noting that exercise does as much for her brain as it does for her body.

Though she's often accused of over-sharing and overexposing herself, what she has to say about how exercise has helped her deal with the anxiety that's plagued her since early childhood is refreshing without being over-the-top.

It's also great to hear a celebrity talk about benefits one can gain from exercise other than rock-hard abs and a butt that's as firm as two fresh cantaloupes.

Most people would agree exercise is a huge stress reliever as well as a way to build self-esteem. Not to mention, when you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins, which interact with receptors in your brain to reduce the perception of pain.

It's great to hear that Dunham is doing something really healthy and positive to combat those feelings of depression and anxiety. All too often we've seen stars turn toward alcohol or pills to treat those conditions, which often leads to additional health issues. Good for her for sharing this positive message.

Do you agree Lena Dunham's advice?
