Doctor Writes Most Awesome Sick Note Ever for Employee Who Had Cold

A doctor is drawing kudos for writing a sarcastic note to a manager of a Pizza Hut in Alberta, Canada, who demanded a "sick note" from his employee, who called out with a cold. This has to be the coolest doctor ever.

As we all know, there is no cure for the common cold. Sure, if it lingers on for days or even weeks, you may want to go to a doctor and beg for antibiotics (which may not work anyway), but really, there is no cure except maybe drinking some hot tea, having some chicken noodle soup, and resting. But one hardass manager demanded a doctor's note, which meant this poor employee couldn't rest that day -- he had to go to a doctor, who wasn't going to do anything for him anyway.

Well, except write this classic note. Check it out:

I have no test for the common cold and therefore believe him/her, however you feel his time and mine should be wasted by making him sit in the walk in clinic for hours and me spending time writing a sick note that I could be spending on people who genuinely need my attention. Please reconsider your policy on this -- there are surely better ways of wasting your tax dollars.

I'm very fortunate that my employers have always treated me like an adult and assumed that when I said I was sick, I was. It's awful that employers have started essentially telling their employees: We don't trust you. You must be lying. You can't really be sick.

When you start treating hardworking adults like infants, don't be surprised when you get immature behavior.

I could see maybe asking for a note if someone needs to be out for a long time, but a day or two? And who knew employers in Canada were as hardass as the ones in the U.S.?

Since that doctor seemed so cool, perhaps the employee should have asked for a dozen sick notes for future reference.

Have you ever had to produce a sick note for a cold?
