The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge: Watch CafeMom's 'The Stir' in Action! (VIDEO)

ice bucket challenge, the stir ice bucket challenge, #icebucketchallenge

By now, you have to have been living under a rock not to know about the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. I mean, pssst! Everyone is doing it, from Martha Stewart and Kris Jenner to Jimmy Fallon and the folks at Good Morning America. Even Oprah and President Obama have been dared.

You know how it works, right? A person or group is challenged to dump a bucket of ice water over their heads. They either accept -- or donate to the ALS Association, which raises money for Lou Gehrig's disease. If they take the plunge, they in turn challenge others ... and a viral sensation bigger than "Call Me Maybe" was born. But this one has a good cause attached: to raise awareness and money for a deadly, crippling illness with no known cure.

Well, we here at CafeMom's The Stir were recently challenged by other bloggers at SheKnows. Sneaky! And we are NOT ones to take something like that sitting down. No, we're more likely to take it on a New York City sidewalk at rush hour instead.

See what went down and scream right along with us ...

That's me there, in the middle with the ponytail, flanked by Stir staffers Adriana Velez and Jill Baughman. Kiri Blakeley and Suzee Skwiot are in the back doing the dumping. And our intern Caitlin Anders filmed the entire scene.

We call on our partners Us Weekly and TMZ as well as Huffington Post to take the Ice Bucket Challenge. Will they accept? Will you? Stay tuned -- and join the madness!

Would you do the Ice Bucket Challenge or never in a million?

Love this... though it looks like Jill got off easy!! Either way -- bravo to you for standing on a NYC street to complete your challenge.

The point of this movement is to donate to ALS to AVOID getting ice water dumped on your head. People are turning it into quite the opposite. If they donate and have the water dumped on them, then great. But, it seems like everyone is just turning this into a game as opposed to actually using this to raise money/awareness for ALS. Some celebrities aren't even mentioning ALS in their videos/social media posts.

Start working at home with Google! It's by-far the best job I've had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this - 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail

Good for you! This disease, in my opinion, is not discussed frequently enough. So, I guess there are two options with this challenge: bring awareness to the cause or donate. Thanks, gals, for bringing awareness. And, of course, thanks to anyone who offers donations. Either way, awareness or donations,'s better than those who bitch about this effort, who probably have neither brought awareness nor donated to this cause. Great job ladies. Because of you, this cause is fresh in my mind, whether you donated or not. And, because of your awareness, I will donate to this cause, minus the ice :)
