Mammogram 101

Every Monday in October, I'll be writing about our boobs. It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, after all, and we owe it to ourselves and our families to stay healthy.

Here are three things every woman should know about mammograms:

1. Get a mammogram once a year after age 40. Start at age 35 if you're at high-risk for breast cancer.

2. A mammogram will only take 10-15 minutes.

3. Mammograms don't hurt, but they can be uncomfortable. To minimize tenderness, schedule it in the two weeks after your period.
