As if we needed another reason to love Jennifer Lawrence. Not only do we admire her acting chops (she's already won an Oscar for goodness' sake), but you gotta love her attitude about this whole superstardom thing. She appreciates her fans like no other A-lister. Equally as impressive? Her unwillingness to give into the Hollywood starve-and-exercise yourself thin obsession. It's unheard of. But is it really the smartest stance for her to take?
While every other starlet is trying to be a well-dressed, perfectly coiffed skeleton, J. Law is stuffing herself with junk food and forgoing trips to the gym. As she admits in the new issue of InStyle, nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING can motivate her to diet or exercise.
During Hunger Games, when I was eating ungodly amounts, I used to tell myself, ‘Stop eating, people are going to see this. This movie is going to be around forever.’ But nope! I was like, I still want candy and I still want a hot dog!
A lot of women can certainly relate to that. But as much as I appreciate her perspective (and unwillingness to bend to a ridiculous body standard), her attitude is a bit unhealthy. Sure, those hot dogs aren't sticking to her butt, arms, and thighs now -- but just wait five years. As soon as she hits 28, those high-calorie foods will have a clear effect. CELLULITE.
Eating right and working out is an investment in ourselves -- whether you are an actress or not. It's the only way to stay healthy as we get older. Not that I want her to obsess or be self-conscious. Her body confidence is amazing. Clearly, you have to be pretty comfortable with yourself to take on the role of X-Men's Mystique (whose outfit consists of blue body paint and only blue body paint). But do yourself a favor, Jennifer. Pick up a healthier lifestyle. Those thighs will thank you later.
When did you start dieting and exercising?
