I don't know about you guys, but I look at Beyonce and think, Danggg, she's got it going on. I mean, have you seen those abs and legs for days? Which is why, I'll be honest, I was a little thrown off to hear that Queen Bey has her insecurities, too.
In a recent edition of In Touch, former band mate Michelle Williams confessed that, yes, even Beyonce has body issues. According to Williams, back in their Destiny's Child days, Beyonce obsessed over her muscular thighs, which made her uncomfortable sometimes.
Weird, but comforting. Here I am thinking Beyonce's legs are beautifully outrageous and defined, and she feels self-conscious about 'em. Guess that just goes to show you that everyone, even the A-listers, has body issues.
So what's a woman with insecurities to do? Well, it depends on what you're worried about. If you're feeling a little down about gaining a few pounds, for example, then you are the only one that has the power to change that. Things like weight and muscle tone, those are things that are in your control. It's on you to get to the gym, to get outside, to try new things, to find inspiration.
But there are some things that are part of who we are, and those things, although hard, need to be embraced. For example, a good friend of mine loves to rock climb and is insecure that her shoulders are too big from the intense workout. Is she still beautiful? Of course she is, inside and out. Her toned shoulders are part of who she is and are a result of her doing something she really, really enjoys. Same goes for Beyonce's large thighs. Those large, muscular thighs are part of who she is and the hard work she dedicates to her career.
At the end of the day, it's normal to be self-conscious. But embracing the little things makes us all better people, no matter how hard that may be.
