Demi Moore may be known for starting some, err, less than conventional trends, like practicing Kabbalah. The most recent one she's apparently psyched about is Dr. Alejandro Junger's 21-day cleanse called The Clean Program, which okay, yes, sounds like some annoying program Gwyneth Paltrow might advocate, but it actually seems to have some merit.
Demi's daughter, Rumer Willis and her boyfriend, Jayson Blair, have even gotten on the bandwagon, and of all of 'em, Jayson was the one to rave about it to Us Weekly recently.
Rumer's mother turned her onto the Clean Program. It's this 21-day cleanse that consists of a shake in the morning, a shake at night and lunch, but you can't have a bunch of foods: No dairy, no eggs, no gluten, no red meat, no shellfish. It's fish, chicken and certain vegetables -- no tomatoes. ... You're supposed to do it for 21 days, but Rumer and I ended up doing it for 42.
Sure, it sounds a bit extreme, and I'm not a fan of any diet or cleanse that thinks a shake is a fair substitute for a meal, but as far as the elimination aspect, I'm all for it. The foods you're supposed to restrict are all acidic and inflammatory. It's probably really a great break for your system.
As it turned out, it was an eye-opening break for Jayson. He says he feels "so good" now that he's revamped his diet, and revealed how the cleanse made it clear he needed to avoid gluten ...

Awesome! I've heard that's the case for many people who have no idea why they're experiencing certain symptoms. That's not to say that they have celiac disease -- and they may actually not be diagnosed by a doc as having a gluten issue -- but they have a low-level intolerance or sensitivity that's causing issues. Goes to show a cleansing, elimination diet may not be as extreme as it sounds -- and end up offering really amazing results.
