No matter if it's 10 pounds or 100 pounds, losing weight is never an easy task. Losing weight while your husband is deployed overseas is most definitely not an easy task. Usually when deployed spouses come back from their time overseas, it's not uncommon for a wife to surprise 'em with their favorite meal that night or something thoughtful like a new couch for the man cave. Misty Shaffer surprised her husband Larry, who was just deployed for a year in Afghanistan, in a different way. She surprised him by losing more than 100 pounds. One. Hundred. Pounds. Holy, wow.
His reaction? Absolutely priceless.
First things first, let's watch the clip:
I know. So sweet, right? And the house!? That is just ... this woman is good.
As someone who has been in a relationship with a deployed soldier, I'll be the first to say that it's very hard to focus on other things knowing that they're in harm's way. It's so so easy to just sit by your phone, work on putting together care packages, and live and breathe every day thinking about that day they'll come back.
I'm so impressed with Misty who found it within herself not only to focus on something else, but focus on herself -- something so many more military spouses should take the time to do. Heck, I'd even go as far as saying that Misty chose the BEST time to work on herself. The mother of one was able to hone her stressed energy in on a good cause, on making healthy choices to better herself. Now, she and her husband Larry can enjoy a happy life together in their new home with their daughter Navaeh.
How fantastic is Misty's story?
