It's no huge secret that Demi Lovato has had some serious issues with her weight. The "Heart Attack" singer who battled an eating disorder and went to a treatment facility back in 2010 has since come a long way. Now, she's a more confident woman -- focusing her efforts on her upcoming self-titled CD and her gig on the X Factor. But something tells me this X Factor spot may not be so good for her, after all.
Rumors are swirling that co-judge Simon Cowell wants Demi to drop 20 pounds over the summer. An insider tells Perez Hilton he's very "supportive of her battles" and wants to support her efforts in a "healthy way."
Of course, Simon's camp says this is total bull and he never said anything of the sort. Either way -- can you imagine!? Telling someone who has successfully moved forward from an eating disorder that they need to drop some weight? That's like telling a former alcoholic they should just TRY one sip of wine to see how it tastes.
Whether it's alcohol, drugs, sex, eating, or anything else -- getting over an addiction is a long, hard process. I don't know anyone who has been able to give up something that was their everything one morning on the fly. Demi surely didn't wake up one morning and think to herself, "I don't need to worry about what I eat anymore." It was a journey.
Demi's put in a lot of hard work to get to the place she is today and is finally comfortable in her own skin. Who cares what Simon thinks or doesn't think? That's not what's important here. Not Demi, not you, not me -- none of us should allow someone else to tell us what's good for us.
Is Simon Cowell off his rocker?
