Kristin Chenoweth Says 'Muffin Top' Is Possible Even When You Weigh 88 Pounds

kristin chenowethBroadway megastar and TV/movie actress Kristin Chenoweth recently confessed that she weighs just 88 pounds, but that doesn't apparently prevent her from worrying about her "muffin top." She recently tweeted, "I just worked out. I hate exercise. How can one weigh 88 lbs and still have a muffin top? It's called coca-cola."

Of course, the 44-year-old's seemingly controversial remarks set off a firestorm and worries that she has body image issues. But I don't see it that way. In fact, she explained it very well herself to Us Weekly ...

Chenoweth admitted:

I get given a lot of grief because I’m petite and I go, 'Oh my gosh. I have a belly.' And people go, 'Are you high? Are you crazy? Do you have a problem?' I don’t have a problem. I’m a woman. I’m a woman. If I wear too tight jeans, I have a muffin top. If I eat dessert, I feel it. It doesn’t matter your size. It’s just how it is.

Damn straight! How can anyone argue with that? It's a reality that no matter what size you are, if you're wearing jeans that don't fit, you're gonna have a muffin top. If you eat something that makes you bloat, your tummy is going to puff out. And it doesn't matter what you weigh! If your abs aren't toned, there could be love handle flab. (Hello, ever hear of "skinny fat"?)

Of course, Chenoweth seems very fit. But I wouldn't be surprised if she suffers bloat from certain foods (who doesn't?) or occasionally finds herself having to squeeze into a pair of jeans with an ill-fitted waist.

Next time we jump all over someone for having body issues, we should consider whether their complaint is indicative of a real issue or is just something every woman faces no matter what size. In this case, I'd definitely guess it's the latter.

What do you make of Kristin Chenoweth's "muffin top" remark?
